The first kind of automobile part that comes to mind when fixing one's car is OEM car parts. The term "OEM" stands for "oe manufacturer," which means that OEM automobile parts come straight from the company that made the car in the first place. Quite simply, if someone's Chevrolet Cavalier were to fail because of the alternator or basic then an OEM alternator or basic could be purchased in order to repair the car. The benefit of buying oe manufacturer automobile parts is the fact that there will generally be considered a guarantee on the part that is bought. In addition, the first is usually assured that the part will continue to work and fit the car on the first try.

A downside to placing your order OEM automobile parts is the fact they are generally much more expensive that other styles of automobile parts. Whereas other car parts may be around $50, the same vehicle parts that are bought from the OEM may be up to $150. The price makes all the difference, too, when mending your car, so it may not automatically behoove you to get OEM auto parts.

Alternatively, the other kind of auto parts that can be purchased when mending a car is after-market vehicle parts, or auto parts that are made for the same auto by third-parties. These auto parts are generally much better to run into, and much more auto repair retailers and retail stores generally hold after-market vehicle parts as opposed to OEM vehicle parts. That's one of the big benefits to buying those types of vehicle parts, but another is that they are much less expensive than OEM automobile parts. This is touched on in the last paragraph about OEM parts, but after-market car parts are generally 50% or even more less than the initial manufacturer's vehicle parts.

All things considered, it is absolutely up to the individual and the problem when the automobile is being repaired. Many people choose OEM car parts because they will be the safest kind of parts to go with, but quarrels for third-party vehicle parts are because they're much cheaper are usually more accessible.
